Kick 808 Style Pinged BP
The 808 used a very simple design. There are no envelopes. Its just a pinged bandpass filter.
Set Q just below self resonance. Higher Q values will ring longer. Lower Q values will be more plucky and punchy. If it’s too high the filter will stay stuck in self-oscillation. If it’s too low the filter will only produce a click.
Patch the trigger into either the filter in, or one of the FM mods. Try both. How do they sound? If you use the FM, turn the filter level fully counter clockwise to stop the mixer from going to the filter.
Variations
To get a click, set a very plucky envelope on ENV-B. Keep the shape close to 0. Then set FM 1 to about 50%.
To make it gritty or noisy, try patching noise to one of the filter FM ins.
Drive and soft clipping will have a big effect on the sound.
Try replacing the trigger with an extremely short envelope with an exponential curve. Try patching different combinations of the trigger and envelope into the filter audio, FM and Q inputs.
